Introduction

This is a new style of product for us! Viva Desire (VVD) reached out to us and asked if they could send their new Rider Desire Special Edition and their RiderGo handheld vibrator for unboxing and review. After a quick check of the company and the products, we replied with a resounding yes. A week later, we received a large, plain cardboard box. No delays despite the blizzards, and no damage which is always a bonus when shipping long distances. We got to work documenting the unboxing process, taking photos keeping track of our first impressions. From Mrs. Rocky: “Wow, it’s so light.” At under 3.5Kg (~7.5Lbs) the Rider Desire is lightweight and easy to move around. Included were three magnetic attachments, each with a different feature.

We also received the RiderGo handheld vibrator which came with a smaller vibrating attachment. All the attachments we received were interchangeable between the Rider Desire and the RiderGo. The packaging was well thought out, and would stand out in a physical sales floor or at a trade show. As a person with a fairly extensive workshop at home for my hobbies outside of reviewing, I have many tools. Organizing them can be an absolute nightmare. To this end, I appreciate that the attachments box has a high density foam cutout that’s been shaped to each “tool”, including the remote control and charging cable. We have well over 100 sex toys, and keeping track if things is important to both test products and for our own sanity. VVD, thank you for including the organizer.

Unboxing Experience

The package arrived in an unmarked brown, cardboard box. Inside was the Rider Desire and Rider Go boxed separately. There was no damage on arrival! We started out photographing the very detailed box before we peeled back the safety seal. Okay, we peeked first from excitement, but it is worth mentioning to check the safety seal when you receive yours, and consider video recording the unboxing process on your phone. This is a good habit for any higher end products be it a saddle, a vacuum, espresso machine, or new dungeon equipment. Inside, we had the owners manual and accessories box right on top of the foam padding. The foam is the softer kind, not the messy Styrofoam thankfully. It pulled out easily, and we were able to lift out the product without issue. I should mention that VVD ships the Rider Desire from the factory sealed in plastic, but in our excitement to finish photos and try it, were unable to include a photo of that step.

The Rider Desire did not come fully charged. We tried turning it on, and it immediately turned off after a few seconds. In the instructions it asks you to charge it for a full 3 hours prior to using it. This will ensure a longer battery life and proper function. We plugged it into a USB wall charger and left it overnight.

Product Overview

The Rider Desire is mainly made from high grade ABS plastic. The seat is covered in a very soft and dense silicone. This includes the dedicated clitoral vibrator and magnetic port for the various accessories.. The Rider Desire comes in two different colour schemes. There is the hot pink, and the limited black edition. We were sent the new black edition. The semi gloss finish photographs really well and looks as good on camera as it does in person. On the underside of the saddle are two strips of a grippy material to help prevent sliding around during use. We had no issues with unwanted movement, its stayed locked in place.

The push button controls are simple to use. On off, and then two buttons to adjust the settings. We started with the smaller pink vibrating attachment that came with the Finger Go. It hit all the right places and was easy to adjust the seating position to exactly where it needed to be. We switched to the slightly larger vibrating attachment and even on the low setting, took less than a minute to reach orgasm.  In another day of testing, we tried the other attachments with similar results. Our personal favorite was the Black Editon vibrator that came with the saddle, but that’s what we enjoyed, you may prefer the tapping or thrusting attachment which thankfully were all included! Attachment swap out is under 10 seconds and super easy to do even in the head of the moment.

Build Quality and Materials

The weight of an object is often associated with quality. The heavier something is, the better it must be, right? Just like with hiking gear, that’s not always the case. Having an ultralight jacket with quality materials and good insulation can keep you warm in the middle of a blizzard above the tree line in the mountains. The materials used in the Rider Desire are lightweight, but can support 330lbs (per VVD’s specifications, has a quality charging and control system, and uses high grade silicone for the main seat. One of the worries I have when using ABS plastic toys or equipment is stress cracks, cracking, poor seams, sharp corners from molds, or storage off-gassing smells. I’m happy to say, none of those issues were present! The surface is very smooth, no molding issues, no smell, and the graphics are nice and crisp! If you’ve ever wanted to cosplay as Selina Kyle after dark and have a night of role-play, this will absolutely make it a great night.

The attachments are all decent quality. The plastic does feel inexpensive, but so far we haven’t had any issues and there were no odd smells either. During the unboxing, I’ll always give toys the sniff test to see what’s there. I was super excited and passed the vibrators over to Mrs. Rocky and said “Smell this dildo, It smells like nothing!” We both immediately burst out laughing, because how many people can say they sniff test dildos on a Saturday night after the kids go to bed? In any case, it was reassuring that the materials stated in the store description as being high quality, actually are.

Full disclosure, we did accidentally kick it off the bed onto the floor, about a 3ft drop, and there was zero damage. Per their website, it is rated to a 120cm drop, and unfortunately, we confirmed that it was okay at about 90cm. Accidents happen, so it was comforting to know that the saddle could handle being unceremoniously kicked from the bed in the heat of a play session.

Performance

How well does it actually work? A valid question with a short answer. Very well. From the moment we turned it on to the first orgasm was under 2 minutes. At the 5 minute timer, we had to turn it off. “So Mrs. Rocky, should we keep it?” I was told we needed to put it back on the charger for the next day. That’s a win in my books.

Each of the attachments do something a bit different. There are three different ones including one that vibrates, one that has a tapping head, and a thrusting one. My biggest concern with thrusting products is silicone that is too loose around the flexible frame underneath. I had an unfortunate experience with a thrusting prostate massager that would pinch the inside of your rectum if you weren’t extremely well lubricated, and even then it could still “bite”. Not the case with the Rider Desire, they balanced flexibility with function, and no biting!

The clitoral stimulator is perfectly situated and easily hits its mark. We found it was much stronger than a hand-held suction toys and you may need a hand getting off after getting off.

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage

Cleanup is pretty straight forward. It is not recommended to submerge any part of the saddle or accessories. We found that baby wipes and a damp cloth made short work of cleaning the saddle itself, and a rinse in the sink with some soapy water worked for the accessories. For good measure we used sanitizing spray afterwards, and haven’t seen any issues or colour fading on the saddle so far. Storage is something to consider especially if you live in close proximity to others or have nosy roommates. We have a flip top bench with storage inside, and it just fits, but the saddle can slide under a bed or on a closet shelf without much issue. Being lightweight, it doesn’t pose a big safety risk to hold above your head when putting it on s a shelf. That being said, just be mindful if you store anything up high.

Verdict

This is our first experience with a saddle style sex toy and we really enjoyed it. For the cost, the value you get is very good even at full price. The battery is rechargeable using USB-C so leaving a charger in the guest room or living room won’t draw suspicion. The remote control is simple to use and worked fine for us when we tried it out. Handing control to your partner could make for an interesting play session and if you’re riding solo, having the controls on the saddle itself is a great backup if you drop the remote. We love the colour scheme of the special edition as it matches some of our more comic inspired decor. It doesn’t have the thumping power of a plug in wand, or the thrusting intensity of a full blown sex machine, but it does exactly what it says which is deliver hands-free body shaking orgasms. The VVD Rider Desire has earned a spot under the night stand!
