Quick Verdict★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10

The Gush 2 is a great addition to solo play sessions or for partner play. The vibrations are powerful enough to reach orgasm and on low work well for teasing and foreplay. One button control, app connectivity, and waterproof. We like this.

Introduction

Lovense sent us the Gush 2 Motion for review, and to try out the remote control features. The biggest step up from the original Gush 2 is the sensors that record motion which can then be translated into motion on another toy in the Lovense Ecosystem. The package comes with the device, two straps, and a magnetic charging cable. The Gush 2 Motion has a single button to turn it on and off, and to switch between different speeds and vibration patterns. The included straps can be secured around the Gush 2 Motion to adjust the tightness and fit to your preference. When we used it during partner play, the bands made it easier for my partner to hold onto and helped transmit slightly less vibrations into their hand. There is a single pulse point that targets the frenulum. However, the vibration can be felt through the entire device. As always, we love to see waterproof toys. Cleanup is always easier, and we’ve found that the better quality construction needed to achieve a higher IPX rating usually means a longer lifespan for the toy.

The optional Lovense app can be used for remote play or to sync two different devices together. We tested this with the Solace Pro and Edge 2, and didn’t have any issues getting them to work together.

The original Gush 2 is being phased out, so if you’re looking for a standalone version without the connectivity, the savings may make it a better fit for your needs. As stock runs out, the new Motion version will be taking over. With how much we enjoy connected play, content syncing, and remote sessions, for us we prefer the connected version of most toys.

Unboxing

The Gush 2 Motion arrived in an unmarked box, with no damage during its journey cross-country to us. This is the third Lovense product we’ve reviewed this year, and consistently we are impressed with the packaging. The materials are recyclable, and are not oversized. This reduces shipping costs and prevents excessive waste. The front of the box showcases the Gush 2 Motion with direct links to additional information about the device. This is useful in a brick and mortar store when folks are looking for more information without needing to talk to staff, or start searching online. The rear of the box has more details and specifics about the device and the different features available.

Build Quality & Materials

The Gush 2 Motion is made with body safe silicone, and uses ABS components to house the parts underneath. It uses a magnetic charger and we found it takes about 90 minutes to fully charge. Using a variety of different settings we had around 90 minutes of use across several sessions. In the month that we’ve had this for testing, we’ve also looked at how well the waterproof rating held up for use and cleaning. So far no issues! While the silicone wings are flexible, use a bit of care and caution when cleaning the inside of the toy. We haven’t had issues with the Gush 2 Motion, but other toys we’ve had in the past have cracked or torn along the inside near where the wings meet the core. The magnetic charging cable is almost identical to those used by other brands. This makes keeping your nightstand, toy chest, or travel kit a bit simpler as your toy collection can share a charger.

My partner wanted me to include a small piece about the vibrations that transfer from the toy to her hands. She is not a fan of this in some of the smaller vibrators or larger wands, and thankfully with this one, it’s been less of an issue. Adding one or two of the included straps helped reduce the vibration transfer to her hands even further. This won’t bother everyone, but for those who it does, take note.

Performance

The Gush 2 Motion is a vibrator marketed as giving targeted stimulation to the frenulum and other sensitive areas of the penis using vibration and oscillation, and the ability to control other toys in the Lovense Ecosystem. We also looked at how easy it was to use solo, and with a partner.

So how well does it work?

It does exactly what it says it will do, and delivers targeted sensations to wherever you place the oscillating membrane. Quick caveat on this though, the vibrations are mostly felt throughout the entire toy vs. the pinpoint sensations of a Womanizer, Rose Toy, or the Arcwave Ion. If you’re looking for targeted, frenulum only stimulation, you may find a pinpoint clitoral vibrator works better.

How strong are the vibrations?

Of all the toys we’ve tested, I would put the Gush 2 Motion solidly in the middle of the pack. The low is almost too low for us, but would work well for extended edging sessions. Medium and High constant speeds were our favorite during testing. Normally we enjoy the ramping or step-up type patterns as well, but we found the patterns cycled too quickly and didn’t give it a chance to build the sensation. Not all was lost though.

Lovense App, worth downloading?

Yes it is in this case. There are a significant number of different ways you can use the app with your toy. As we mentioned, the speed of the patterns were a bit too quick for our liking. Using the app, we were able to create and save our own patterns, and ended up creating a step-up, long and drawn out one that we enjoyed. For partner play, the Gush 2 Motion can control other toys within the Lovense Ecosystem. We also enjoyed giving my partner the direct control section of the app to play with, and take control of the play session. This can be fun as its own event, or a fun way to engage in foreplay. Lovense is also piloting AI chatbots you can text back and forth with. The bots are granted control of your toy’s settings. We played with this feature a bit, and were able to convince the bot to rotate through various settings, but it took a bit to figure out. If you do try it, be clear, specific, and very blunt with what you want them to do. A bit buggy, but still fun. Over the last few weeks there have been several app updates that improved the function of these bots, so we will look back and add updates as they come.

Cleaning, Maintenance & Storage

Cleanup is super easy. This is why we prefer to see fully waterproof products come across our test bench, easy cleanup and you don’t have to worry about damage. Give the Gush 2 Motion a complete rinse, then use some antibacterial toy safe soap to clean off the surfaces. Finish with another rinse, and set it to dry. The silicone rings are also easily washable. Just take care to rinse the strap holes to make sure they’re squeaky clean for your next use. Ensure it’s completely dry prior to charging.

Comparisons

The closest toys we have used to the Gush 2 Motion were the older model of the Arcwave Ion, and the Lelo F1S. They all use a variation of oscillation and vibration to target stimulation on the frenulum. The Arcwave wins out for raw power without question. The biggest drawback is that if you have any roommates or family, they will hear it running on a different floor of the house. It is one of the loudest toys we own. The F1S we have was the first generation version Developer Kit. It needed work, and our research shows the V3 has improved over the V1, however the sizing can be a bit too snug for some users.

Does it work with the Quest 3?

We tested it with our headset and SexLikeReal. The setup to use the Lovense App can be a bit tricky at first, just follow the directions on their website closely. The initial setup takes the longest, and it’s much easier in subsequent play sessions. We had to adjust the timing delay by about 150ms, which got everything in perfect sync. That’s on the lower end which meant there wasn’t much delay at all during use. We did not have any issues with connectivity being lost during our play sessions.

The Gush 2 Motion is a generalist that does exactly what it says it will and has the ability to accommodate most users regardless of size. We’ve tested numerous oscillating toys and so far this is the quietest to use. It can be comfortably used behind a closed door, and the sound won’t exit the room. A point of caution, if you drop it in the shower, it will absolutely vibrate the entire tub or floor, so be mindful if you use it in the shower!

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • ✓Motion sensors translate movement to a paired Lovense toy — synced with our Solace Pro and Edge 2 without a hitch.
  • ✓Quietest oscillating toy we've tested — comfortable behind a closed door.
  • ✓90-minute charge, around 90 minutes of play across sessions, IPX7 waterproof and easy to clean.
  • ✓Genuinely partner-friendly: one-button control, straps cut vibration transfer to her hands, and the app hands her the controls.
Cons
  • ✗Stimulation is diffuse, not pinpoint — the whole toy vibrates, so frenulum-only seekers will prefer a pinpoint vibrator.
  • ✗Mid-pack power — the low end is almost too low, and it can't touch the Arcwave Ion for raw intensity.
  • ✗Built-in patterns cycle too fast to build sensation — we ended up making our own in the app.
  • ✗Full functionality needs the app, and the AI chatbot feature is still buggy.

Verdict

So what do we think of the Gush 2 Motion? The pricing is reasonable for what you get. The battery charges quickly, lasts multiple sessions, is easy to clean, and does its job without waking the neighbours. It’s quick to set up and partner friendly. Cleanup is simple and thanks to the IPX7 waterproof rating, you can try out post orgasm play without risking damage to the vibrator. It isn’t going to win out as top choice for somebody looking for raw power, and to unlock the complete functionality you are tied to the Lovense App. We did try out the AI sync and haptics synchronization using the Quest 3 and SexLikeReal, and it works just as well as the other Lovense toys we’ve tested.

Who would we recommend it to?

Travellers, long distance relationships, remote site workers (quiet enough for a thin walled motel), those wanting to try a different type of stimulation, or somebody looking to upgrade from a less powerful or app-free toy. Occasionally there are bundled deals, so if you do want it for a couples set, or for remote play, consider checking back for those sales to launch. This is something that we would buy for our own collection and use especially if travelling for work, and for something different to experiment with while using VR and chatbots.
